Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.90
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
  • 3-month PPC: £32.05

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.

REMEMBER:
  • After 60 seconds the flap will lock shut
Your medication will become locked inside and the Box becomes unusable by others until someone attends to unlock it.
  • The Collection Code Expires After 3 days
Patients will get a reminder text when there is just 24 hours left for them to collect their medication. After 3 days have passed, all packages with expired codes will be removed from the Box and can be collected in hours at Clift Dispensary.
  • During the First Few Weeks
Staff will be on hand for anyone that would like some support with their first collection.
  • Change of information form
It is important that you let us know of any changes to your mobile phone number or exemption status as soon as possible.
During this start-up period, we expect to experience a few teething issues but are keen to evolve and develop our systems as we learn what does and doesn’t work with the Box and our patients.
